Tom Noren is an active performer and educator who has made the Charleston area home since 2005. He lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife and children.

He is the founder and director of the Tom Noren Guitar Studio  in Mount Pleasant and the music teacher at East Cooper Montessori Charter School. He is also a partner artist with Engaging Creative Minds. (click on link to read more about this outstanding organization !) 

Tom is also a partner with his wife Jennifer Waldron in PLAYtek, an educational company specializing in combining STEM and the Arts (STEAM). Together they have introduced hundreds of children to coding on Scrtach, MaKey MaKey, littleBits and many other STEAM based projects. Tom is the leader of the littlBits chapter in Charleston and a MaKey MaKey ambassador. He has led STEAM  workshops and teacher training sessions at the Montessori Aliiance Conference, The Ashley Hall School and at The Discovery Place STEM fest and the Charleston STEM fest.

Tom has been teaching guitar since 1983 and over the last 15 years has dedicated himself to introducing young children to the joys of music making. 

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Tom studied Classical Guitar at New England Conservatory in Boston, where he received a masters degree in performance.
